Maureen Duran started smoking when she was 13-years-old.
"I wanted to be cool like my sisters," she said. "My whole family smoked."
She didn't think about the dangers then but once she started her own family she was forced to think about the risks.
"My 10-year-old daughter saw a commercial on television stating how bad smoking is for you and she started crying and I held her and she said, 'I don't want you to die'," Duran said.
