A native of York, NE, Dr. Thompson graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 1995. From 1996 to 1998, he served in the United States Air Force as a flight surgeon for the 39th Airlift Squadron, based at Dyes Air Force Base in Texas. He then pursued orthopaedic training in Phoenix, AZ and in Omaha at the University of Nebraska/Creighton program.
From 2002 to 2004, Dr. Thompson served again in the Air Force as a staff orthopaedic surgeon and was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. Prior to moving to Omaha in late 2005, he spent a year in Charleston, SC undergoing fellowship training in Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Reconstruction.
Currently, Dr. Thompson's practice involves the treatment of general orthopaedic conditions such as fractures, sports injuries and arthritis. His specific area of interest involves the diagnosis and treatment of complex problems of the leg, ankle and foot.
During the past several years, Dr. Thompson has greatly enjoyed providing medical support for several organizations in the region, including Ballet Nebraska, the Omaha Marathon and the Omaha Corporate Cup Race.
Much of Dr. Thompson's free time is spent with his wife, Michele, and their three children, Jackson, Sawyer and Caroline. Beyond playing with the kids, he enjoys running, biking and golfing. One of his favorite hobbies is cooking on the barbecue grill - though he still has a lot to learn. In addition, Dr. Thompson is a big fan of classic movies and history.
